I was asked today to comment on a situation in which an organization was experiencing serious resistance to change around the implementation of a software application. They had read some Internet posts on ADKAR. But they did not really accept that resistance is always smart of the resister’s point of view. Change management models like ADKAR are action oriented. First, you must understand why people are resisting the change, and how it is smart from their point of view. They you can formulate an effective action play to overcome it. Over wise, you may fall into the trap of assuming that ‘it is all their fault’, even when you are careful to use effective Change Management Frameworks.
